British Cruise Passenger Rescued After 10 Hours at Sea
Woman Fell Overboard from Norwegian Star Cruise Ship
Singing Kept Her Afloat
A British woman who miraculously survived 10 hours in the Adriatic Sea after falling overboard from a cruise ship over the weekend says singing helped her stay afloat.
The passenger, who has not yet been named, was rescued by the Croatian coast guard at 9 a.m. on Sunday, about 10 hours after she fell from the Norwegian Star cruise ship late on Saturday evening.
According to the coast guard, the woman was found conscious but hypothermic and exhausted. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
The woman's husband told reporters that his wife had been singing to herself while she was in the water, which helped her stay calm and fight off the cold.
The incident is under investigation by the Norwegian Star cruise line and the Croatian authorities.
