Scotland Boss Clarke Evolution Not Revolution For Nations League

Scotland boss Clarke: 'Evolution, not revolution' for Nations League

Clarke makes two changes to Scotland squad for Ukraine Nations League clash

Scotland boss Steve Clarke has made two changes to his squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League clash against Ukraine, with Aaron Hickey and Ryan Porteous coming in for the injured Nathan Patterson and Grant Hanley.

Patterson has been ruled out with an ankle injury, while Hanley is suspended after picking up a red card in the 2-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.

Hickey, who has been in impressive form for Serie A club Bologna, will be hoping to make his full debut for Scotland, while Porteous, of Hibernian, could make his second appearance for his country.

Clarke: Scotland need to show more quality

Clarke wants 'evolution not revolution'

Speaking ahead of the Ukraine match, Clarke said he is looking for an "evolution, not a revolution" in his team's performance.

"We need to show more quality on the ball, we need to be more creative and we need to be more clinical in front of goal," he said.

"But I believe we have the players to do that. We have a good squad and we have a lot of talent. We just need to put it all together on the pitch."

Robertson calls for positivity

Scotland captain Andy Robertson has called for positivity ahead of the match against Ukraine.

"We need to stay positive and we need to believe in ourselves," he said.

"We know it's going to be a tough game, but we're at home and we have the support of our fans. We need to use that to our advantage and get a good result."

Scotland's Nations League record

Scotland have won one, drawn one and lost one of their three Nations League matches so far.

They beat Armenia 2-0 in their opening match, drew 1-1 with the Republic of Ireland and lost 2-1 to Ukraine.

Scotland need to win their remaining two matches against Ukraine and Armenia to have a chance of reaching the Nations League finals.
